Raleigh Parker Kearns: Birthwood
If you followed me way back when as a newlywed (we celebrated two years this past December!), then you might have seen this post, where I shared about the truly special custom wood ring I had created as Ryan's wedding band.
I adored working with the sweet folks at Simply Wood Rings, and when they e-mailed me about their new Birthwood line I was immediately smitten.
A one-of-a-kind, eco-friendly ring representing our baby boy's birth month handmade by a team of artisans in Chicago couldn't have been a more precious gift. And when I got the ring in the mail I immediately fell in love.
It's the kind of ring that you can wear daily--it goes with everything and is an instant conversation starter. I am a proud mama wearing my gorgeous apple wood and peridot ring.
I even love that each month's birthwood has a story behind it. Here's a bit about August's chosen wood:
"Apple wood represents the month of August. The apple tree is symbolic of strength, gentleness, abundance and giving. Apple wood is valued for its strength and fine grain.
John Chapman aka “Johnny Appleseed” planted a popular American variety, the Jonothan Apple, across the American wilderness in the late 1700s and early 1800s. His apple orchards in New York, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Illinois, Indiana, and Kentucky still exist. Some of the original trees he planted over two hundred years ago, still bear fruit!"
The new Sitting in a Tree line by Birthwood is designed specifically for mamas and papas to wear. What a perfect gift this would be for mother's day, father's day, or just because. But why wait for a holiday--I would order one right away! It will fast become one of your most treasured items.
