Custom Address Stamp

I have to admit that one of the exciting things about finally being married (and getting married earlier than originally planned, for that matter) is that I could go ahead and order our custom address stamp!

I have been a fan of Lauren of A Fabulous Fete for a long while now, and knew that a custom address stamp lettered by Lauren would be a must-have as a Mrs. Working with Lauren on the design was so much fun, and her designs were perfectly whimsical! I could not be happier with our stamp, and I highly, highly recommend you order one for yourself as well!

And there is nothing quite like a photoshoot with your envelopes..

Snail mail is a favorite of mine--but you may be seeing a bit more of it these days with my custom stamp in-hand!

Darling Delights

Happy Friday, darlings!
I have an exciting weekend ahead! My sweet girlfriends have planned a bridal shower for me, and I know it will be nothing short of amazing filled with glam details and sprinkled with mint and gold--now that's my kind of party!

My darling delights of late:
New goodies from Target! That gold glitter tape is the bomb, and those Rifle Paper Co. notebooks may or may not be a part of my fun giveaway coming up!
Within the last few months or so I have really gotten into matching pajama sets. Wearing a comfy set in a simple or bright pattern makes morning coffee even more magical!
Sharing an office with three other ladies isn't always easy, but surrounding myself with glam inspiration is a must!
I spotted this tea cup set while perusing antique shops in downtown Lexington with the Mr. and I just knew I had to make it mine!
This doughnut tee was first seen on O My Darlings Instagram, and I was instantly in hot pursuit! I haven't really decided when and where I'll rock this crop top, but for now it looks grand just hanging in my closet!
Fresh pink ranunculus and the most amazing vintage tortoise vase I received from a dear friend for my birthday!
One glance at these beauties on Look Linger Love and I immediately placed my order. So ready for Spring with these!

Kerri Leigh Weddings + Events

What an exciting few weeks it has been for my good friend, Kerri! She has been working hard on a little "refresh" for her event company with Elizabeth Glessner of Glessner Photography complete with a new name, unique branding, photoshoot (a photoshoot that I actually got to be in--the three photos in the site header are a little sneak peek, but be sure to stay tuned for more!), and of course new website!

The official launch was this past Monday, and I can hardly take my eyes away from the stunning design and all of the amazing details! Be sure to check out the new site and say hello--she is the sweetest gal, and I know you'll just adore her!

Engagement Session Tips

This is the part where I get to share all of the things with you that I might have done differently and all of the things I am so glad that I did do right for our engagement session. Learn from some of my personal mistakes, if you will.

1. Hire an incredible photographer! There is only so far that a great outfit, airbrushed makeup, and the "golden hour" can get you. The rest is up to your photographer. And that is a lot! You are paying them a rather significant chunk of your wedding budget, so make it count. Beyond hiring them, communicate with them. The Mr. and I have the wonderful honor of working with a husband and wife team of Joy Davis Photography, and they have made the journey such a blessing! We will be forever thankful for their services and amazing memories captured for life.

2. Bring a brush for goodness' sake. I think I actually did bring mine, but it was stashed away in my pocketbook and never saw the light of the day during our shoot. Because I had so much hairspray in my hair to keep it perfectly shaped and styled, it ended up looking piecey and slightly un-washed after the wind ravaged through it several times. So all that time with a hot straightener, huge velcro rollers, and a 1/3 of a can of anti-humidity hairspray went to waste. Spend less time with your hairspray and more time going for that perfectly tousled natural look.

3. Check yourself! There were a couple times throughout our shoot where I was so focused on getting my leg right and adjusting my neck just so that I forgot to remember one of my most important rules in pictures--never, EVER smoosh your arm against your body. I don't even think I need to go into further explanation on that other than it literally just adds about 3 pounds to your bicep. Toned or not toned, smooshing your arm is never a good idea.

4. Makeup. So I did hear somewhere that more is better for pictures. I really don't wear a lot of makeup on a regular basis, other than my signature lipstick, of course, so I wanted to look "normal" in my pictures. It actually turned out great (I wore full coverage foundation and didn't skimp on the cover-up), except that I really should have worn mascara on my bottom lashes. I typically don't because they're so tiny and practically lay right up against my skin so that the mascara slowly quickly gravitates from my lashes to my undereye area and I look like I got in a bar fight. That is never a good look. If you typically don a full face of makeup then you probably won't feel like yourself otherwise. And if you are normally an au naturel kinda gal then you might feel like a clown if you wear too much. Go with your gut here.

5. Location. Although we met at work (Tanglewood Park, to be exact), we really weren't into getting our pictures taken there for that very reason--it's work. For the very same reason we're not having our June wedding celebration there. While our original plan was to have our engagement shoot on our photographer's land in NC, we ended up having our shoot done on the first day of our week-long vacation in Charleston, SC. You can never go wrong with Charleston--in short, it's just incredible! If you don't have a place that's particularly special or near and dear to the two of you, then just go for somewhere that has the aesthetic of your personalities. For us, it was important to have greenery and trees incorporated. If you love coffee then hit your favorite local coffee shop (too bad for me my Mr. isn't into fancy lattes or coffee dates so that wasn't really relevant to us). Make it fun and personal. This will also determine your wardrobe, so pick your location before you buy out your shopping mall.

6. Wardrobe. This is maybe the biggest thing I researched before our engagement session. Everywhere I looked, though, just said to wear something that is most "you" and you're comfortable in. Completely and 100% true. I chose to wear a dress for both of our looks and I am so glad I did. I love that I paired one dress with my Jack Rogers and it's a bit more casual, but I still feel fancy and feminine--maybe also because the dress was lace. I would suggest, though, not to wear anything super fussy that you would have to constantly adjust during the shoot. You already have so much to think about as far as positioning your body you don't want to have to mess with the floppy bow that won't sit just right to your shoulder straps that want to slink down your arm. For our other look, I wore a chiffon dress in mint, which was a nod to one of our wedding colors. The Mr. did not let me dress him, but he did a great job on his own pairing his outfits with mine so that they didn't look "matchy-matchy", but also didn't clash and become distracting. More articles on what to wear from Rebecca Anne Photography and Marianne Wilson Photography.

7. Be yourself! A few times I found myself so "in the moment" that I forgot to smile. The Mr. and I are a very silly couple and you'll hardly ever catch us in a serious moment. It was nice to get some sweet pictures of us being sentimental, but I'm glad we were able to get some smiling and laughing pictures to add to the mix. Remember to have fun! You can't photoshop fun on your face, so let loose and enjoy yourself!

By no means is this the exhaustive list of dos and do nots for your engagement session, but I sure hope this helps! I'd love for you to share your experiences and thoughts in the comments--I may do an updated version in the future (and give you credit, of course)!

And this is a total brag on our photographers, but how amazing are these shots?!

Cold Weather Pastels

Hi lovelies! On a day off of work I had a day packed full of errands, but I made enough time for a hair appointment and a tiny bit of shopping. These silk trousers and my comfy gray knit were perfect to sit for a couple hours in my stylist's chair, run all over town in, and join my girlfriends for dinner later on that evening!

Wednesday Pick-Me-Up

I love that this print comes in swirly girly lettering in multiple colors--and I can hear my awesome high school French teacher Madame Citron saying this phrase as she flips her head back for emphasis. This brings back some fun French class memories!

Soirée Inspiration: Garlands

There are lots of details to think about when planning the decor of your next get-together, where it is a small girls night or grand cocktail party. Garlands create instant atmosphere, and they can be as simple as pom poms or as elaborate as yards upon yards of fresh greenery strung to the ceiling. Here is some of my recent inspiration--enjoy!

Similar DIY how-to here!
Two-in-one via A Fabulous Fete! I love the DIY flower garland using only needle, thread, and carnations with washi tape to attach it to the wall, along with the fun verbiage garland that can be interchanged with any expression (like this one here)!
This is major eye candy in all forms--gold fringe garlands, tassels, balloons, florals, and a fab marquee sign!
via styled by Blush Shop
And last, but certainly not least, is the tassel garland. Y'all already know about my love for these and my very own Minted Gold version seen here and here!

Will you be DIY'ing your next fun garland or purchasing ready-made?

Infused Water

Infused Water on Darling Cashmere

My nighttime ritual varies, but I usually hop into bed around 10:00 pm after grabbing a drink of choice from the fridge then drift off to dreamland watching the nightly news with the Mr. I am embarrassed to admit that my drink of choice lately has been most commonly sweet tea (okay, I'm from the South, so can you hardly blame me?).

Well, since finding out that at night I'm more than likely a mouth breather (Yikes!) it makes sense that I wake up around 4:00 am dying of thirst, and the sweet tea just isn't cutting it anymore. So I'm on a mission to dress up my nightstand with a carafe full of thirst-quenching H2O. And for a special twist I plan to infuse said water with some incredible natural flavors. Check out my inspiration below from A Cup of Jo--details and recipes can be found on her blog post.

Hello lovely! I think that this may be the beginning of a new series. In the midst of planning my wedding (less than four months away, y'all!) not only have Pinterest and I become even closer friends, but I peruse wedding and event planner websites and blogs daily. With all the gorg style and ideas out there it can sometimes be hard to keep track of. Trend by trend and category by category I will be breaking down some of my favorite soirée inspiration. Darling Delights

We all know that social media is a place to share our happy moments made even more charming with filters and carefully arranged lighting. Life is not always so perfectly styled, but it is always worth celebrating.

Here are some of my Darling Delights lately
Delivering fresh flowers to my sweet bestie to celebrate a pretty maj job promotion!
This amazingly perfect Lindsay Letters Whatever is Lovely t-shirt makes me smile just thinking about it!
Crafting Valentine notes for co-workers and special friends with gold and hot pink, of course!
Celebrating launch day by ordering a fab print from the forallthingslovelyxbisforbonnie collab!
A raspberry cocktail in my newest thrifted gold stripe glasses! I made the heart drink stirrers to celebrate Valentine's Day, but hearts are year-round in my book!

Wednesday Pick-Me-Up

Charm and Gumption

Although this blonde top knot print is one of my favorites (and my mom recently ordered it for me as a birthday gift!), I think the above print is so elegant with the ideal dose of truth. Proverbs 31:25 is a favorite of mine--in fact, the whole chapter Proverbs 31 is amazing and you should definitely dig in if you have a few spare minutes!

Enjoy your Wednesday!

Events Coordinator at WinMock

As you may have read here, I recently took a new position at a local venue as Events Coordinator. With this new position, came the need to rest my brain post-office hours and re-focus my priorities (ahem--not to mention do some major wedding planning of my own!). I am so thankful for the warm welcome I received from my new work family at WinMock! These photos were snapped my first week there and shared on WinMock's Facebook page to help make me feel like part of the team and introduce me to our wonderful clients.

It has been an exciting couple of months learning about the historic venue, getting the hang of the company culture, and certainly adjusting to a shared office with the rest of the team! I know this will be a fun adventure, so wish me the best!

I am happy to say that I am back to blogging now, and have been dreaming up some exciting things for the future. With a new schedule in mind and our wedding celebration just a few months away, I will be scaling back to posting on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays (with the exception of a few other sprinkled in!). Enjoy!

XOXO,
R
