So I started with those gorgeous little silk floral shorts and went from there. This past week was full of car shopping and driving to and from dealerships in our area. Can you tell I had comfy attire on my mind?
This ensemble is undeniably chic, but paired with the cross-body RM bag, rolled up chambray sleeves, and simple, no-fuss stud earrings..you have successfully mixed fashionable and comfortable.
Psst..did you check out how affordable those little colorblock sandals are?! It only gets better--they come in mint/nude too!
Today is already awesome. The Mr. and I have finally decided on a car and we are going this very evening to pick it up. Are you curious? I get a major upgrade from a 2003 Honda Civic (she was great, though..really!) to a 2013 Hyundai Sonata Limited. This baby is much larger than my precious Civic, but the Mr. is all about thinking ahead (ahem..like thinking ahead in terms of a family-sized car). He's such a keeper!
And to top this weekend all off, tomorrow we are headed to visit some good friends in the Raleigh area and party down at TBMF (for non-locals that's the Triangle Beach Music Festival). I can't wait to share more pictures with you!
I hope you enjoy today. Make your Friday fabulous!
This little tidbit of life advice could not have come at a more precious time to me.
Last week I experienced being rear-ended in a six-car pile-up on the highway. After getting out of the car I was relieved to see that no one was seriously injured, although it felt like such a traumatic impact at the time. My car is officially totaled and I am now on the hunt to replace my first and only dear Honda Civic (or as some knew her..Sally the Civic). Everything is a bit of a hassle and headache at this point, but I know that the Lord has great plans through this and He will provide where needed. He always, always comes through.

Crop tops. Belly shirts. Cut-off tops. Whatever you may call it..it's in for this season. I can't say I'm 100% there with the trend, but if I was to be bold enough to try it out I'd pair it with high-waisted bottoms--a maxi skirt, shorts, pants, you name it. I'd say the trick to the trend, especially if you are on the fence about it, is sporting as little skin as possible when first trying it out. Take the trend to the beach or poolside just to see how comfortable you are with it.
Check out my Weekend Style inspiration with a flowy maxi skirt and mesh panel crop top. Can you tell I've got Coachella on the brain?!

Now you tell me..what do you think of the crop top trend?
In my sweetest home dreams, I would buy the most gorgeous plush, comfortable, and completely stylish couch. But I have yet to found all those characteristics..plus affordable! I am on the hunt, though, and here are some of my favorites!
Excuse me while I play a little catch-up this week with life in general. Last week was a bit of a busy tornado and I just got back from an amazingly fun weekend with some gorgeous gals for a lovely girlfriend's bachelorette! If you aren't already following me on Instagram, here are a few of my fave weekend snapshots you might have missed--plus some!
A little Starbucks pick-me-up to start off the drive!
Minted is a darling website full of unique and special paperie designs and party decor. I have already spent the occasional hour (I know, I know..) scrolling through the colorful Art Prints section swooning over the delightful prints and imagining them in various frames on my walls..
Anywho..For some reason, I am just now discovering the Minted world of bridal shower invites--who knew?! They are simply to die for!
Check out a few of my favorites:
Had our wedding colors remained blush pink with metallics, the above invite would have been a dream!
With our new wedding colors of yellow and mint green, this swirly script has certainly caught my eye!
In love with the retro vibe the red and light blue color scheme has got going on!
So girly and chic! How can you go wrong with scallops and flowered typography?!
Other than the fact that this invite has my name on it, the gray background makes the peach and pink flowers just pop!
Adorable! A vintage tea party luncheon would be so much fun!
I highly doubt you can go a week without seeing the great style of the peplum somewhere around town. It is a shape I have fallen deeply in love with. My first peplum purchase was a 3/4-sleeve white with red and blue dots with an exposed gold zipper in the back. Gorgeous. I was so excited to wear it to our neighbor's 2012 Super Bowl party and root for the New England Patriots (for no particular reason at all..). Little did I know that the New York Giants sported the same exact color scheme. Partial fail, but at least I was always on the winning side!
Since then, my peplum obsession and purchases have grown, anywhere from solids, prints, sleeveless, and to my newest addition: white on white brocade. I am beyond excited to break it out when we have some permanent warm weather around here. I am thinking I'll pair it with my aqua skinnies or bright ankle pants. The possibilities are nearly endless!
Here are a few of my favorite peplums seen around:
When I first spotted this gorgeous J. Crew sweater designed in collab with Hugo Guinness I nearly fell out of my chair. And I promise you, that is not an exaggeration. Could it possibly be just any more perfect?! The sweatshirt reading darling! is gray cashmere..need I say more?
I styled the sweatshirt with a few of my favorite pieces. With the weather still dipping below 60°F, this would be the perfect ensemble for chic errand-running around town.
I have been eyeing those gorgeous velvet Charlotte Olympia kitty flats for weeks now!

In the midst of planning my wedding, I want to do something fun to celebrate the warm weather and lush, Spring greenery (yes, I am choosing to ignore the fact that it was sleeting and snowing just yesterday)! I am planning a Southern Spring BBQ and thought I would share with you my essentials inspiration.
So maybe I'm dressing this BBQ up a bit more than just your average hamburgers and hot dogs cookout, but I did go to school for event planning afterall, so I decided to go the extra mile or so for this party--hence, the Southern Spring Soiree has been born.
Invites: Love these Rifle Paper Co. Garden Party Invites. These invites are gorgeous enough to hang on your fridge long past the party date!
Flowers: These are a must. Head to your local Trader Joe's or Farmers Market for fresh blooms at a major deal. Mismatched containers and vases are key to keeping it fun and relaxed.
Tablecloths: You may already have a fantastic outdoor patio set, but our less-than-pleasing table would look much better draped in a vintage tablecloth. Cucumber Water: Offer a refreshing twist on water. Encourage a glass of it between cocktails and beers for a fun (and safe!) night.
Floral Paper Straws: What's the point of buying fun patterns and colors of paper straws only to stash them away for "just the right occasion"? Bring these babies out and you're sure to have an impressed crowd. Mason Jars: Easy drinking for those not sporting the coozied beer. These look much better than a red solo cup (sorry, Toby Keith..) and you don't have to worry about your favorite vintage cocktail glasses being dropped.
Cupcakes: Well this is a personal must. I have yet to master cooking, but I am not half-bad at baking--and cupcakes are my specialty. Cocktail Card: Can you beat a fabulous free printable? Of course not. I am thinking of putting it in one of my spare picture frames..okay I'm done thinking about it, I am definitely going to. S'mores: So maybe the picture of the s'mores didn't exactly fit in perfectly with the floral aesthetic in my inspiration pictures, but we are blessed enough to have a brick patio area and fire pit in the far back of the yard (hand-dug and brick-laid by the Mr. himself!) so s'mores are a go-to when the sun goes down. I can think of nothing more fun than roasting marshmallows on a warm Spring night surrounded by our closest friends!
The Mr. is blessed enough to have remained so close to his friends all the way from elementary school through college and now beyond. Because of this, we had a bit of a hard time deciding how many bridesmaids and groomsmen to have...and then who!
Considering we're only planning on having around 85 guests, we decided on an intimate-sized wedding party. I asked two of my best girlfriends to be my bridesmaids (no maid of honor here!). I really wanted the two girls in my Bible study to be a part of our special day as well, so I asked them to be my honorary bridesmaids.
To ask the girls to be my bridesmaids I printed out this adorable card in our wedding colors and packaged them along with some stickygrams of us I ordered! I then created my own envelopes in coordinating colors!
For the honoraries I wanted to do something a little different. I created our custom monogram in our wedding colors, of course, and then used fancy typography in Publisher to create a similar special invite for them packaged in my DIY envelopes with stickygrams!
I ended up clipping the ask cards to be a lot smaller in order to fit inside the envelopes.
PS check out that double-sided tape. Ew, talk about yellowing with age..
The most fun part was using my metallic Sharpies to create little polka dots all over the handmade envelopes!
I chose gold for the yellow envelopes and silver for the mint.
Even though I often see the girls in person, there is something so fun and, these days, out-of-the-ordinary about receiving snail mail, so I sent these via USPS.
How did you or how are you planning to ask your bridesmaids?

So, if you're like me, you have yet to strip off the winter layers that have been protecting (or hiding?) your shoulders, legs, and, dare I say it, your tummies.
With a beach bachelorette weekend coming up for a dear sweet girlfriend of mine I have been doing hardcore ab crunches during television commercials, squats while blow-drying my hair, and side bends while cooking at the kitchen stove. I may or may not be absolutely bikini ready in the next two weeks, but hey..at least I tried, right? And my new high-waisted swimsuit may help with that. I digress...
Below is my swimwear inspiration for the season: bikini edition. Stay tuned for a onesies edition--I see gorgeous one-piece suits popping up all over the place!
